Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced that AI enhancements significantly increased user engagement on the company’s apps in Q2. Despite rising complaints about low-quality AI content, Meta’s advanced recommendation systems improved the relevance of suggested content, leading to a 5% increase in time spent on Facebook and 6% on Instagram. As of June, over 3.4 billion people used Meta’s platforms daily, marking a 6% year-over-year growth and contributing to a revenue surge to $47.1 billion, up 22% from last year. The company noted a 20% year-over-year increase in video watch time, attributed to algorithm optimizations and a focus on promoting original content on Instagram. Additionally, its competitor, Threads, also experienced a rise in user engagement, aided by the integration of large language models (LLMs). These advancements underscore Meta’s commitment to leveraging AI for enhanced user experience and connection across its apps.
