In 2025, generative AI adoption among EU youth (ages 16-24) reached 63.8%, nearly double the overall usage of 32.7% for those aged 16-74. Young individuals predominantly use generative AI for various personal purposes (44.2%) compared to just 25.1% of the general population, and significantly for education (39.3% vs. 9.4%). Interestingly, professional use of generative AI is similar across age groups at 15.8% for youth and 15.1% for older individuals, as many young users have yet to enter the workforce. The highest usage rates among EU countries are seen in Greece (83.5%), Estonia (82.8%), and Czechia (78.5%), while Romania (44.1%), Italy (47.2%), and Poland (49.3%) report the lowest. This trend showcases the growing integration of generative AI in daily life and education among younger Europeans, aligning with the observance of Safer Internet Day on February 10.
