Apple is reportedly seeking a partnership with AI leaders OpenAI or Anthropic to revamp its Siri voice assistant. Following backlash and lawsuits over its Apple Intelligence model, the tech giant aims to enhance its AI capabilities in response to market competition. According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is in preliminary discussions to integrate large language models from these AI companies, focusing on creating custom versions for its Private Cloud Compute servers powered by advanced Mac processors. Despite ongoing talks, no final decision on a partner has been made. Apple’s AI division, under new leadership from Siri chief Mike Rockwell and software engineering head Craig Federighi, is reassessing various models, including ChatGPT and Gemini, to identify contenders that could improve Siri’s performance. Notably, Anthropic’s Claude model has emerged as a potential frontrunner. This shift will necessitate increased efforts in user and data privacy management for Apple.
