XR Week Preview (April 13, 2026): Android XR Introduces 2D App Autospatialization, Meta Unveils New AI for Glasses, and More!

Today, I had an exciting day at the INVELON ITALIA SUMMIT, where I moderated a roundtable on the use of XR in culture and tourism, engaged in demos, and networked over tasty food. My first XR event this year was illuminating, thanks to Invelon.

Notably, Google has enhanced Android XR with five new enterprise-ready features, including autospatialization, enabling 2D apps to transform into 3D. These updates ensure long-term security management for businesses adopting XR technology, a crucial step in the B2B market.

In other XR news, Meta launched an AI model, Muse Spark, set to enhance applications across social platforms and AI glasses. Additionally, Meta’s IWSDK allows quick WebXR development using AI, bringing efficiency to the creation process. Meanwhile, Apple is testing multiple designs for its upcoming XR glasses, while Unity and Meta solidify their partnership to boost XR content development.

Stay tuned for more insights into the ever-evolving XR landscape!
