OpenAI and Broadcom Partner to Create 10 GW of AI Accelerator Technology

OpenAI and Broadcom are collaborating to revolutionize AI infrastructure through the co-development of cutting-edge accelerator and Ethernet-based network systems. Slated for rollout between 2026 and 2029, this partnership aims to meet the growing demands of next-generation AI clusters. OpenAI’s custom accelerators will leverage Broadcom’s Ethernet, PCIe, and optical connectivity solutions, integrating advancements from frontier AI models into hardware. “Partnering with Broadcom is essential for maximizing AI’s potential,” stated OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Broadcom’s Hock Tan emphasized the significance of this collaboration in advancing artificial general intelligence.
