Accenture US has mandated regular use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for senior staff to qualify for promotions to leadership roles, as reported by the Financial Times. An Accenture spokesperson confirmed that adopting cutting-edge technology is crucial for serving clients effectively, emphasizing a strategy to be an AI-enabled partner of choice. The internal communication highlighted that the use of AI tools would inform talent discussions, yet this policy excludes 12 European countries and employees handling US government contracts. This move aligns with Accenture’s broader initiative to integrate AI across its operations. CEO Julie Sweet stated that around 550,000 employees have been reskilled in generative AI fundamentals, reinforcing a focus on upskilling. Accenture’s early investments in AI are reportedly yielding positive results, yet many companies struggle with AI readiness.
