As companies like Meta encourage heavy AI use, workers reported a 14% increase in mental effort and a substantial rise in information overload. The study revealed that 14% of AI users experienced brain fry, with notable disparities across industries. This fatigue can lead to higher decision-making errors and increased turnover intentions—34% among affected employees compared to 25% in others. However, when AI is used to automate routine tasks, burnout decreases by 15%, enhancing engagement and productivity. The study advises leaders to redesign workloads and set clear expectations to leverage AI benefits without overwhelming staff. Properly managed, AI can improve workplace dynamics rather than exacerbate them.
