Ohio Homeland Security has launched Safeguard Ohio, an innovative web application that enhances the reporting of suspicious activities using artificial intelligence (AI). Developed with Vigiliti, the app allows users to anonymously upload photos, videos, and audio reports across eight categories, including drug-related activity, human trafficking, and school threats. While cyber incidents are still reported through the Ohio Cyber Integration Center, Governor Mike DeWine emphasized the app’s role in threat prevention, aiming to simplify information sharing with law enforcement. The app sends real-time data to the Statewide Terrorism and Analysis Crime Center for prompt review. Andy Wilson, Director of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, highlighted the multimedia features that cater to younger generations, improving detail in reports. The app supports submissions in 11 languages and provides a unique QR code for follow-up information. Download Safeguard Ohio for free at safeguard.ohio.gov and contribute to community safety.
