Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly essential for students planning higher studies abroad. The “Emerging Futures: Voice of the International Student” survey by IDP reveals that 54% of prospective international students intend to use AI platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini to guide their university applications, marking a significant increase from last year’s figures. Despite this trend, traditional resources remain invaluable, as the 2025 Student Communication Preferences survey by EAB indicates that 34% of students trust in-person experiences, while 30% rely on official university websites for decision-making. Only 3% fully trust AI systems for accurate guidance. This highlights a “hybrid mindset” among Gen Z, who are tech-savvy yet cautious. As universities adapt by blending AI outreach with personal counselling, AI is increasingly integrated into the student journey, enhancing the way information is gathered and academic choices are made.
