Bridging Gaps: The Need for an AI Tools Radar

As interest in AI surges, many institutions struggle with guidance, resources, and effective implementation. UNESCO’s assessments highlight significant capacity gaps, especially in the public sector, media, and judiciary. A 2022 survey in Africa revealed that while AI is deemed essential for economic growth, substantial human resource shortages affect ethical and human rights issues. Media, as noted on World Press Freedom Day 2025, faces limited ethical AI application with only 27.5% of surveyed institutions using AI for critical reporting. Judges are exploring AI chatbots for legal tasks but express concerns over ethical implications. This highlights the pressing need for a centralized resource, the AI Tools Radar, developed by IRCAI and UNESCO, featuring over 200 curated tools. The platform, available in English, French, and Spanish, focuses on accessibility, openness, and transparency, offering essential support for the ethical adoption of AI across various sectors.
