Airbnb is enhancing its app with AI features, as announced by CEO Brian Chesky during the fourth-quarter conference call. The company aims to integrate large language models (LLMs) to refine search capabilities, trip planning, and property management for hosts. This AI-native experience will personalize user interactions, evolving beyond basic searches to anticipate guest needs and support hosts in running their businesses efficiently.
Currently, Airbnb is testing a feature for natural language queries, enriching the search experience and expanding its customer support with a bot that addresses one-third of inquiries autonomously. Future plans include voice support and serving a broader range of languages.
As Airbnb seeks to fine-tune the user experience with AI, it may introduce sponsored listings in AI searches. With a promising $2.78 billion revenue in Q4—up 12% year-over-year—the company is also striving for 100% AI adoption among its engineers. Tapping into expertise from new CTO Ahmad Al-Dahle, Airbnb continues to innovate, aiming for a comprehensive, AI-driven platform.
