Norway’s Aker ASA is collaborating with Nscale Global Holdings and OpenAI to establish a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence facility, known as Stargate Norway, in northern Norway. This project aims to install 100,000 Nvidia processors by the end of 2026 and will be powered entirely by renewable energy. As the first OpenAI Stargate facility in Europe, it follows a similar initiative in the UAE. The joint investment of approximately $1 billion for the initial phase underscores its significance as one of Europe’s most ambitious AI infrastructure projects. Aker and Nscale will benefit from local access to AI models and services through this sovereign infrastructure. The facility, leveraging Nvidia’s advanced GB300 Superchip and high-speed NVLink technology, is projected to have an electrical capacity of 230 megawatts (MW), with plans to expand by an additional 290 MW. This initiative marks a pivotal step toward sustainable and scalable AI infrastructure in Europe.
