Anthropic, Google and OpenAI land GSA contract for governmentwide use

The General Services Administration (GSA) has announced that federal agencies can now purchase artificial intelligence products, like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude, at reduced prices. This initiative aligns with President Donald Trump’s AI Action Plan, emphasizing the need to integrate advanced AI solutions to enhance government efficiency and services. GSA Acting Administrator Michael Rigas highlighted the transformative potential of AI for improving back-office operations and citizen experiences. The plan also focuses on ensuring AI systems reflect truthfulness and avoid ideological bias, as stated by GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner Josh Gruenbaum. Generative AI firms are seeking FedRAMP accreditation, partnering with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure to expedite access. Concurrently, GSA is developing its own AI chatbot, GSAi, which utilizes various models to optimize workflows across federal agencies. This strategic move aims to empower government agencies to make informed procurement choices.
