Anthropic has unveiled Claude Cowork, an AI agent designed for non-developers, enhancing productivity across various teams. Available on all paid Claude plans—Pro, Team, and Enterprise—this tool is integrated into the Claude desktop app, enabling seamless management of text documents and spreadsheets. Primarily utilized by operations, marketing, finance, and legal teams, Claude Cowork facilitates project updates, collaboration, and research activities. A standout feature is role-based access control (RBAC), allowing corporate administrators to manage user access linked to existing employee account systems. Additionally, it offers granular permission settings via the MCP tool, enabling specific actions, like reading but not sending emails. Users benefit from analytics features, including team budget settings and activity reports. With the inclusion of a Zoom MCP connector for meeting summaries and action items, Claude Cowork positions itself competitively alongside Microsoft’s Copilot Cowork and offerings from Google and OpenAI.
