Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is seeking to raise at least $25 billion, targeting a valuation of $350 billion, according to Cailian Press. Sequoia Capital, along with existing investors Microsoft and NVIDIA, will participate in this financing round, expected to finalize soon. Founded in 2021 by Dario and Daniela Amodei, Anthropic focuses on “reliable, interpretable, and controllable” AI technology, with a core team from the development of GPT-2 and GPT-3. The company competes directly with OpenAI, having seen its revenue surge from $1 billion to $10 billion annually, thanks to innovations like the Claude Opus 4 model. Despite a valuation gap with OpenAI, which stands at $500 billion, Anthropic’s valuation rose by over 90% in four months. The competitive landscape in AI is tightening, with major players dominating funding and raising concerns over valuation bubbles and regulatory risks in the industry.
