Artificial intelligence (AI) adoption in Asia-Pacific (APAC) consumer businesses is on the rise, projected to jump from 29% to 76% in two years, according to a Deloitte report. Despite this growth, only about 30% of initiatives make it to deployment. The region is poised to generate two-thirds of new retail sales over the next five years, buoyed by over 4.3 billion shoppers and a burgeoning middle class. More than half of APAC consumer businesses have implemented AI across various functions, with one-third reimagining their business models through AI. Retail leaders anticipate a significant shift towards AI over traditional search engines, predicting a more streamlined shopping experience by 2027. While AI could manage up to 25% of global e-commerce by 2030, two-thirds of executives doubt consumers will fully trust AI agents for purchases by 2028. To thrive, retailers must enhance data governance and create experience-driven environments as AI’s role in retail escalates.
