Apple Delays Gemini-Enhanced Siri Features Until After iOS 26.4 Release

Apple reportedly pushing back Gemini-powered Siri features beyond iOS 26.4

Apple is encountering internal challenges in the rollout of its upgraded Siri, powered by Google’s Gemini AI. Originally slated for incorporation in iOS 26.4, expected in March, key features may now be postponed until iOS 26.5 in May or even iOS 27 this September. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that the expanded capability allowing Siri to access personal data, such as searching old text messages, is particularly likely to be delayed. The anticipated voice-based control for in-app actions is also behind schedule. Apple has recently released iOS 26.3 with bug fixes, but the Gemini-powered Siri features are unlikely to debut until future updates. Initially announced in June 2024, these capabilities were pushed back, with Apple having only formalized its partnership with Google in January. Consequently, Apple’s approach to Siri will evolve to resemble a chatbot experience in iOS 27, emphasizing improved user interactions and functionality.
