Apple has swiftly addressed privacy concerns regarding its partnership with Google, assuring users that Siri conversations will remain private and will not be shared with Google, despite the integration of Gemini AI. This clarification comes amidst increasing scrutiny of generative AI and personal data usage. Apple stated that its AI features, including those utilizing Gemini, adhere to “industry-leading privacy standards.” The system employs a combination of on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute, ensuring user data stays within Apple’s ecosystem. When requests are made, Apple determines if processing should occur on the device or in the cloud, minimizing data sent to its servers. According to Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior VP of Software Engineering, the AI uses personal data solely for request fulfillment, with effective security measures in place. The revamped Siri, enhanced by Google Gemini, is expected to launch with iOS 26.4. Apple remains committed to strong privacy protections amid technological advancements.
