Apple has recently removed the “Anything” app, a vibe coding platform, from its App Store due to violations of Guideline 2.5.2. This guideline states that apps must be self-contained and should not execute or manipulate code beyond their designated areas. Vibe coding, where users employ AI to generate applications using natural language without coding knowledge, was becoming popular. Since March, Apple has been removing such apps, including Anything, which was successfully used to publish thousands of apps since its launch in November. Co-founder Dhruv Amin attempted to comply with Apple’s rules by proposing an update for browser-based previews, but this was blocked. The trend reflects Apple’s ongoing scrutiny of app functionalities, indicating the necessity for strict adherence to guidelines for app development. While Apple allows educational apps to download code in certain cases, they must ensure the source is fully viewable and editable by users.
