Aveni has launched the Agent Assurance Expert Council (AAEC), addressing the urgent challenge of governing autonomous AI agents in financial services. Convened in Edinburgh, this council will rotate meetings between London and Scotland, uniting senior leaders from various sectors to create governance frameworks for AI systems. As the industry shifts towards fully autonomous AI agents, traditional assurance models struggle to keep up, raising concerns about oversight and accountability. Despite 99% of firms planning AI adoption, only 11% have implemented AI agents, with a mere 2% reporting adequate governance. Aveni’s initiative emphasizes the necessity for collaboration, as effective frameworks are critical in managing risks associated with AI-driven decision-making. Aveni’s participation in the FCA’s Supercharged Sandbox demonstrates its commitment to evidence-led assurance, validating AI behavior before deployment. The AAEC aims to cultivate consistent governance practices, ensuring safe AI deployment amidst rising regulatory scrutiny in the rapidly evolving financial landscape.
