Aveni, an Edinburgh-based AI fintech firm, has launched the Agent Assurance Expert Council (AAEC) to tackle the challenges of governing AI-driven agents in financial services. The inaugural meeting took place in Edinburgh, with future gatherings set for London and Scotland. As the industry shifts from decision-support AI tools to autonomous agents, traditional assurance models face significant strains. Research reveals that while 99% of firms aim to implement AI agents, few have adequate assurance frameworks. Kent Mackenzie, Aveni’s RegTech Adviser, emphasized that existing models for human processes are insufficient for AI systems. The AAEC aims to establish practical governance methods, focusing on machine-led assurance and innovative lines of defense. With its experience in end-to-end agent assurance, Aveni brings credibility to the initiative, which is crucial as regulatory scrutiny intensifies. The AAEC is poised to create robust frameworks for safe, transparent, and accountable AI agent deployment in the financial sector.
