AWS CEO Garmin pitches ‘billions of agents’ as enterprise AI future

At AWS’s Re:Invent show in Las Vegas, CEO Matt Garmin envisioned a future driven by agentic artificial intelligence (AI) for cloud customers, emphasizing the transformative potential of AI agents. He highlighted AWS’s consistent innovation and plans to deploy “billions of agents” to deliver real-world value. Joined by executives from Sony and Adobe, he discussed implementations of AWS technologies like Bedrock and Nova Forge, facilitating generative AI applications and large-scale AI systems. Sony’s John Kodera underscored the importance of deep emotional engagement in business, while Adobe’s Shantanu Narayen focused on creativity in the AI era. Garmin also announced advancements, including AWS Transform for modernizing applications, and AWS AI Factories, which integrate dedicated AI infrastructure within existing data centers for rapid deployment. Notably, IDC analyst Neil Ward Dutton pointed out that successful enterprise AI integration must encompass AI technologies across business processes and address security and regulatory challenges.
