The SECURED project, led by the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, focuses on secure, privacy-preserving processing of sensitive health data for blood cancer research. With thousands of patients diagnosed annually in Europe, the initiative harnesses advanced technologies such as cryptography, federated learning, and secure multiparty computation to create the SECURED Innohub. This collaboration hub allows decentralized health data processing while maintaining the highest privacy standards, as noted by Dr. Eduard Porta, head of the Cancer Immunogenomics lab. The project aims to develop AI models for cancer risk prediction and improve patient care while ensuring compliance with strict European privacy regulations. The consortium, including various European partners from academia and industry, will launch pilots for real-time tumor classification and synthetic data generation. Funded by Horizon Europe, SECURED exemplifies innovation in healthcare data security and aims to revolutionize treatment approaches for blood malignancies. For more info, visit SECURED Project.
