Boston Dynamics has unveiled an upgraded version of its four-legged robot, Spot, enhanced by Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence. This new iteration boosts Spot’s ability to understand its environment, interpret tasks, and operate with minimal human input. A demonstration video released on Hyundai Motor Group’s YouTube channel shows Spot effectively executing various household chores, such as organizing scattered shoes, disposing of trash, and even putting clothes in a laundry basket. It also checked a hidden mousetrap and walked a dog. Additionally, Spot showcased its capabilities in industrial settings for supervisory and inspection tasks. These advancements are attributed to the integration of Google’s Gemini Robotics model with Boston Dynamics’ software, including the Orbit program and AI Visual Inspection Learning. With Gemini’s enhanced reasoning abilities, Spot can analyze sensor data to navigate complex environments and understand task contexts more proficiently. This innovation highlights the increasing sophistication of robotics technology in home and industrial applications.
