Siri on the iPhone using ai tools

Apple’s AI chief, John Giannandrea, is stepping down amid the company’s efforts to revitalize Siri as it moves toward 2025. Newly appointed VP of AI, Amar Subramanya, will take over responsibilities that include improving Siri’s capabilities. Subramanya brings nearly two decades of experience from Google and Microsoft, aiming to transform AI research into practical applications. Giannandrea, who joined Apple in 2018 to enhance Siri, faced setbacks, including a delay in introducing a personalized Siri, leading to diminished confidence in his leadership from CEO Tim Cook. Although Giannandrea will remain as an advisor until spring 2026, Apple is optimistic about Subramanya’s track record in AI innovation. The company anticipates launching an upgraded Siri in spring 2024, potentially incorporating features from Google’s Gemini model tailored for Apple’s privacy standards.
