OpenAI’s AI chatbot, ChatGPT, experienced a significant global outage affecting thousands of users, including in India. As reported by DownDetector, over 3,500 users faced issues accessing ongoing chats, retrieving saved conversations, and generating responses. This outage, the second in July, raises concerns about the chatbot’s stability amid growing reliance on AI tools.
The disruption began around 6 AM IST, with 82% of complaints focusing on the chatbot itself. Users encountered “Content Failed To Load” messages and a degraded performance status from OpenAI. Developers also reported interrupted sessions and lost code in Codex, while Sora users experienced slow rendering times.
This outage follows previous incidents, highlighting ongoing reliability concerns for ChatGPT in mission-critical applications. As the platform continues to investigate these issues, users are urged to stay informed on updates regarding performance improvements and accessibility.
