ChatGPT launches AI Action Portraits to rival Nano Banana trend

OpenAI is exploring a new social media-style Direct Messages (DMs) feature within ChatGPT, currently in beta testing for Android. This feature, codenamed “Calpico,” enables one-on-one and group conversations, allowing users to chat, collaborate, and share AI-generated content. Discovered by developer Tibor Blaho, the upgrade aligns ChatGPT with popular social media platforms, potentially incorporating functionalities like message exchanges, block options, and invite management. The group chats, or “Calpico Rooms,” may enhance collaborative experiences, enabling users to co-create text and images within shared discussions. Although traces of this messaging feature appear in the beta code, it is not yet operational, and OpenAI has not provided a launch timeline. If implemented, this evolution could position ChatGPT as a versatile “everything app,” merging productivity, creativity, and social interactions, especially following the launch of OpenAI’s AI video-sharing platform, Sora.
