Local governments are promoting “one-person companies” (OPCs) to capitalize on AI potential; for instance, Suzhou established an “OPC service alliance” to support these entrepreneurs, while Shanghai designated a space in Jingan for one-person businesses, providing essential resources. As youth unemployment reaches record highs, many university graduates are turning to self-employment, finding traditional employment opportunities insufficient. Karen Dai, the founder of SoloNest in Shanghai, has created a networking hub for solopreneurs, showcasing the growing community with over 100 events and 2,000 attendees. This trend highlights the intersection of technology and entrepreneurship, positioning solopreneurs as key players in China’s economic landscape.
