Chrome for iPhone rolling out built-in Gemini integration

Google Chrome for iOS has begun rolling out a built-in Gemini experience after initial teasers in September. The browser’s address bar icon transitions from Google Lens to a Gemini-branded page icon. Users will encounter a “Page tools” sheet offering “Search screen” and “Ask Gemini” options. The “Ask Gemini” feature allows users to obtain key insights and summaries of the current webpage, create FAQs, or explore complex topics in simpler terms. Other functionality includes testing knowledge, modifying recipes, and comparing information. The Gemini interface, which overlays on the page, resembles the Android design and is accessible in the US for English-speaking users only, requiring a Chrome sign-in. Notably, it doesn’t function in Incognito mode. Currently available through Chrome version 143, users can also enjoy improvements in online shopping with biometrics and gain insights via helpful tips on the new tab page. The rollout is gradual, so not all users may have access yet.
