Cirrus Data has enhanced its Cirrus Data Cloud by integrating MCP Server support, allowing AI agents to play a vital role in data migration processes. This innovative software facilitates seamless migration of any block workload, whether physical or virtual, across on-premises, cloud, or hybrid environments. It supports diverse block storage devices, including RDMs and iSCSI disks, and automates migration stages from discovery to cutover with policy-driven control.
According to CEO Wayne Lam, this integration turns autonomous data mobility into a reality for customers. The Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard introduced by Anthropic in 2024, enables secure, bi-directional communication between AI agents and data sources. Cirrus Data’s setup allows customers to delegate migration tasks to their AI agents, ensuring both AI and human-directed processes utilize the same auditable automation framework. The MCP Server is included in all new Cirrus Data Cloud licenses and is available for immediate use.
