In a significant move to enhance AI capabilities among Singaporeans, the government will provide six months of free access to premium AI tools for those enrolled in selected SkillsFuture artificial intelligence courses, starting in the second half of 2026. Announced by Manpower Minister Tan See Leng during the MOM budget debate, this initiative aims to foster confidence and practical experience with AI technologies. The initiative will initially be available to Singaporeans aged 25 and above, encouraging inclusivity for various demographics, including mature and lower-income workers. Collaboration with major providers like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI is underway to ensure participants receive tools aligned with their course content. With low AI adoption hindering financial gains in Southeast Asian firms, this proactive step aims to bridge the skills gap, facilitating a more AI-ready workforce. Details on qualifying courses and specific tools will be shared later to ensure participants can effectively apply their newfound skills.
