Computers Step into the Age of Claude Code

OpenClaw, formerly Clawdbot, rebranded after Anthropic requested the change due to phonetic similarities with their product, Claude. Surprisingly, Anthropic soon revealed plans to develop OpenClaw. On March 31st, Anthropic announced the integration of Computer use into Claude Code, enabling it to operate computer interfaces. This feature had been tested since October 2024, allowing Claude to execute commands like a human user.

Recently, Anthropic introduced the Channels function to Claude Code, acting as a message interface that allows external software communication. While Computer use functions like a “hand” to perform tasks, Channels function as the “ear,” facilitating message input.

The introduction of the MCP protocol further illustrates Anthropic’s shift towards more open, standardized communication with external agents, benefiting third-party systems like OpenClaw. OpenClaw aims to leverage this opportunity by evolving into a multi-channel message gateway, potentially enhancing user accessibility and interaction with Claude Code.
