Google has launched Opal, an experimental tool for creating AI-powered mini apps, directly on Gemini for the web. This feature allows users to build custom apps using natural language prompts and a visual editing system, enhancing user experience and creativity. Initially introduced in July as part of Google Labs, Opal simplifies mini app development through a new visual editor that organizes prompts into editable steps. To access Opal, users can navigate through the Gemini interface by selecting the hamburger menu and clicking on Gems to explore existing creations. While users can remix these apps or employ the Advanced Editor for custom designs, it’s crucial to note that Opal is not integrated with Gemini Apps. Consequently, any data generated through Opal will not be reflected in Gemini Apps Activity or governed by the Gemini Workspace settings. This innovative tool empowers users to create unique AI solutions effortlessly, marking a significant advancement in app development.
