Pearl Abyss, the developer behind Crimson Desert, has addressed controversy regarding the use of AI-generated images in its game. The studio confirmed that “2D visual props” were created with experimental AI tools during early development stages, intended only for initial tone exploration. However, some AI-generated assets unintentionally made it into the final version, which is not consistent with the company’s quality standards. Pearl Abyss has apologized for this oversight and pledged to conduct a full audit of all in-game assets, promising to replace affected content in future updates. Additionally, they acknowledged the need for clearer communication about their AI usage. The game’s launch has faced multiple issues, including technical difficulties and compatibility problems with Intel GPUs, which have frustrated players. Pearl Abyss is committed to improving transparency and quality as they move forward with updates and fixes for Crimson Desert.
