Google is enhancing the Gemini app with updates focused on personalized AI experiences and privacy protection. The new “Personal context” feature allows Gemini to reference previous conversations, improving its ability to offer tailored suggestions based on user preferences. For instance, if a user mentions favorite comic book characters, Gemini can propose themed birthday party ideas. This feature starts with the Gemini 2.5 Pro model and will expand to the 2.5 Flash model soon.
Additionally, the new Temporary Chat mode allows for one-off conversations that prioritize privacy. These chats won’t appear in the user’s activity history and are retained only for 72 hours for response generation. Google is also updating data management with a new “Keep Activity” setting, clarifying how user content is stored. It’s essential users adjust their privacy settings through the Gemini Apps Privacy Hub. These features are rolling out globally over the coming weeks, enhancing user experience and control.
