Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, the leading cryptocurrency exchange, envisions that cryptocurrency will evolve as the default currency for artificial intelligence (AI) agents. During a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he stated that as AI technologies advance, cryptocurrency will become the primary payment method for transactions. Zhao emphasized the synergy between blockchain and AI, predicting significant transformations in the financial sector. He identified tokenization and payment solutions as pivotal areas for growth, revealing discussions with over a dozen governments on asset tokenization strategies.
Despite the current limitations of AI in practical applications, Zhao remains optimistic about the future. He noted that hybrid solutions may bridge traditional payment systems with crypto infrastructure, enhancing consumer experiences. With Binance serving 300 million users and processing record withdrawals, Zhao asserted that crypto’s resilience outperforms traditional banking models. He also cautioned against the sustainability of Bitcoin payments and memecoins, predicting a decline in physical bank branches amidst evolving digital financial services.
