SEOUL, Dec. 6 (Yonhap) – LG Uplus Corp., a leading South Korean telecommunications provider, has reported a data leak involving its AI-based call app, ixi-O. The incident, caused by a cache configuration error, exposed the call data of 36 customers, including phone numbers and conversation content, to 101 other users during a service update. The company informed the Personal Information Protection Commission about the leak, which occurred between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Notably, no sensitive data, such as resident registration numbers or financial information, was compromised, as the incident was not a result of hacking. Upon discovering the issue, LG Uplus initiated an immediate investigation and implemented measures to prevent further exposure of user data. Affected customers were notified via text and phone calls. LG Uplus expressed its sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused and committed to cooperating with any follow-up investigations.
