Datadog has launched its MCP Server, an innovative offering aimed at equipping AI agents with controlled access to real-time observability data, such as logs, metrics, and traces. This new feature enhances the troubleshooting capabilities of engineers by enabling AI agents to investigate production issues while upholding governance, security, and audit standards.
Now generally available, the MCP Server is a pivotal addition to Datadog’s AI-powered observability and security platform, streamlining faster debugging, safer automation, and governed AI operations. Developers can seamlessly embed AI agents into their workflows, accessing vital data for efficient issue resolution. The server connects live logs and metrics directly to AI coding agents—including Codex, Claude Code, and Cursor—facilitating automatic investigation and response to issues.
Datadog’s Chief Product Officer, Yanbing Li, emphasized the MCP Server’s role in transforming AI complexity into clarity, thereby empowering teams to optimize their AI-native development processes while maintaining essential security protocols.
