They emphasize that Grok’s functionality is “offensive” and “creepy,” calling for its removal to align with existing safety measures. The senators also highlight the inconsistency in both companies’ actions, pointing out their swift removal of apps like ICEBlock and Red Dot based on government concerns, despite those apps not creating harmful content. Inaction on Grok could undermine the tech giants’ claims of providing a safer user experience and weaken their defenses against legislative moves aimed at increasing app store competition. The lawmakers argue that failing to address Grok’s issues marks a double standard in app store regulation.
