Spotify has launched a new feature called “About the Song,” aimed at enhancing the music listening experience for Premium subscribers. This feature, currently in beta, provides users with engaging story cards that offer insights into the songs they are playing, explaining the artist’s intentions and the meaning behind the music. Accessible in the Now Playing View, users can swipe through multiple cards that summarize information from third-party sources like Hypebeast and Wikipedia. Utilizing machine learning, some summaries are AI-generated, providing dynamic content for listeners. However, the feature is currently limited to English accounts in select countries—U.S., UK, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia. Notably, users can rate each summary with thumbs-up or down options. In addition to this, Spotify has recently introduced physical paper books to complement its digital audiobooks and revamped its lyrics feature.
