In the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, app developer Ahmed El-Kholy unveiled “Manetho,” the world’s first real-time hieroglyphic translator utilizing artificial intelligence. Users can translate 3,000-year-old inscriptions from artifacts like statues and papyrus simply by photographing them. The app provides translations in English and Arabic, enhancing visitor experiences and understanding of Egypt’s rich history. El-Kholy created Manetho with a dedicated team of over 16 technicians and Egyptologists, winning first place in the Huawei Developer Competition for Egypt and North Africa, securing a position in the global finals in China. Huawei supports the app through technical resources and cloud services. Additionally, Manetho incorporates augmented reality, featuring interactive elements like Queen Nefertiti narrating her story in Arabic. Future expansions aim to introduce virtual reality experiences, allowing users to explore tombs and 3D statues. Manetho revolutionizes museum visits and deepens engagement with ancient Egyptian culture, driven by innovative technology.
