Elon Musk has initiated a legal battle against OpenAI, claiming the company has colluded with Apple to undermine his chatbot, Grok. In a 61-page antitrust complaint filed in federal court in Texas, Musk’s team accuses OpenAI of integrating ChatGPT into Apple’s iPhone exclusively, thereby harming competition. The lawsuit alleges that Apple has manipulated its App Store rankings to disadvantage Grok and has deliberately delayed approving updates for Musk’s product. Musk’s accusations reflect longstanding tensions with OpenAI, which he co-founded but now views as a rival. He alleges that this partnership between Apple and OpenAI consolidates their monopolies and threatens innovation in AI technology. Despite Musk’s claims, OpenAI’s CEO dismissed the lawsuit as part of a harassment pattern. The complaint also raises broader issues about competition in the AI space, as both companies adapt to the rapidly evolving market landscape that AI represents.
