Folders were once central to my note-taking strategy, meticulously organized into categories like work, personal projects, invoices, and more. However, this structure became cumbersome, consuming time that could have been spent writing. Transitioning to a flat structure in Google Drive revolutionized my workflow. Instead of nested folders, I now store all documents in one location, utilizing Google’s advanced search capabilities to locate files quickly by name or context.
I have shifted to using labels for better organization without clutter, allowing documents to belong to multiple categories. This flexibility eliminates the need for file duplication and reduces decision fatigue. Additionally, Gemini AI summaries streamline note retrieval by providing instant overviews of content, turning incomplete ideas into actionable insights. Lastly, I implemented timestamp prefixes for easy chronological tracking of documents. This simplified yet effective system fosters creativity without the overhead of traditional organization methods, making my notes more accessible and functional.
