However, this rapid development raises concerns about the social and ethical implications of AI technologies. In response, San Diego State University (SDSU) has launched an innovative Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Human Responsibility—the first of its kind in the California State University system. This multidisciplinary program combines technical literacy with insights from the social sciences and humanities, equipping students to critically assess when, why, and how AI should be deployed. Emphasizing ethical considerations and environmental impact, the curriculum includes studies in data management, sustainability, and cultural contexts. By fostering critical thinkers adept in navigating the complexities of AI, SDSU aims to prepare graduates for responsible leadership in a technology-driven future, balancing the benefits of AI with societal well-being.
