Google has launched its advanced reasoning model, Gemini 2.5 Deep Think, enhancing its inference capabilities to tackle challenging problems through parallel thinking. This model achieved a gold-medal standard at the International Mathematical Olympiad, while a faster iteration still performs at a Bronze level for the 2025 benchmark. Deep Think emulates human cognition by simultaneously exploring various problem-solving paths, integrating insights effectively. Built on a “sparse mixture-of-experts” transformer architecture, it efficiently processes data across text, images, audio, and video within a 1 million token context. Performance benchmarks demonstrate significant creative and strategic problem-solving improvements, such as the 65th percentile in the USA Math Olympiad. Google is gradually rolling out access, with limitations to manage compute costs, though select researchers will receive the full version. As development continues, improvements in content safety and objectivity are anticipated, particularly as Google navigates the model’s complexities.
