Zhu Shengjie: From Startup Success to Robotics Pioneer
At just 26, Zhu Shengjie sold his second startup for $200 million and embarked on a global adventure. Despite his success, he faced an existential crisis, questioning his true passion. A robotics enthusiast from childhood, Zhu excelled in competitions and later worked for Disney Imagineering, contributing to innovative projects like the bionic robots in Disneyland. In 2025, he co-founded Animotion Robotics with John Jiang, focusing on consumer-friendly bionic robots like Éloi, a modular robot designed to foster emotional connections. Éloi’s unique features, such as customizable appearances and “instinctive” behaviors, aim to create genuine companionship.
