This qualitative study examines the impact of AI-driven technologies in foreign language learning, highlighting both positive and critical aspects. Findings suggest that these technologies enhance students’ language skills, particularly in speaking and writing, by providing personalized feedback and promoting motivation. However, ethical concerns arise regarding data privacy, algorithm transparency, and user safety. Students express a need for greater awareness and control over personal information shared with AI tools. Notably, while computer science students are more informed about potential risks, others may lack this awareness. The study calls for educational institutions to integrate AI ethics into curricula and encourage clear disclosures from developers regarding data management. It also recommends establishing review committees for AI tools in education to ensure ethical standards and safe user experiences. Future research should include diverse user perspectives and explore ethical challenges further, emphasizing collaboration between developers, educators, and ethicists to foster a safe learning environment.
