Firewalla has unveiled Firewalla App 1.66 for Early Access, emphasizing enhanced network security, advanced parental controls, AI-driven insights, and performance monitoring features. The standout update, Device Active Protect, implements Zero Trust networking principles by automatically recognizing trusted device behaviors, restricting access to essential functions while blocking all other activities. The new parental control tool, Disturb, encourages healthy internet habits by simulating poor connectivity in specific apps, promoting breaks without internet shutdowns. Additionally, support for intrusion detection and prevention has been improved via a multi-engine IDS/IPS model that includes the Suricata threat detection engine, available for Firewalla Gold Pro users. The enhanced FireAI assistant now analyzes network events and offers real-time troubleshooting, simplifying network management. The app also features improved dual-WAN data tracking, IPv6 support, and UI refinements. Available for iOS and Android, these updates aim to provide small businesses and families with enterprise-level security tools while enhancing usability.
