Ex-OpenAI and Apple Researchers Join Superintelligence Lab with Rs 1600 Cr Offers

In a groundbreaking move, Meta is fully committing to artificial intelligence with the establishment of the Meta Superintelligence Lab (MSL), led by Nat Friedman and Alexandr Wang. CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s recruitment strategy is attracting top talent with staggering compensation packages, including Rs 1,600 crore ($200 million) for Apple’s Ruoming Pang and Rs 800 crore ($100 million) for ex-OpenAI scientist Trapit Bansal. These offers, which combine salaries, bonuses, and stock options, rival CEO pay at notable global firms. MSL, aimed at developing Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), has already recruited 11 elite researchers from companies like Google DeepMind and OpenAI. Additionally, Zuckerberg is investing in extensive AI infrastructure, notably the “AI data supercluster” Prometheus, set to launch by 2026. Meta is also allocating $14 billion to Scale AI for premium datasets. These strategic initiatives underscore Meta’s ambitious vision to lead in AI innovation.
