In times of disaster, comprehensive data is crucial for communities affected by hurricanes and disease outbreaks. Planet Texas 2050’s AIM (AI-enabled Model Integration) Flagship project uses artificial intelligence to combine sensor data, scientific models, and personal stories to create actionable insights. This interdisciplinary initiative, involving researchers from the University of Texas at Austin and the Museum of South Texas History, focuses on enhancing decision support tools for vulnerable populations in South Texas. AIM integrates flood projections and public health risks, leveraging computational narratives to provide real-time, life-saving information. Key components include the DataX Portal for data management and collaborative efforts to engage local communities through interactive storytelling and educational programs. Recent achievements include developing a disease vulnerability map that guided a medical diagnosis following a flood. As AIM continues to grow, it aims to enhance resilience across Texas and beyond, addressing pressing environmental challenges while fostering community awareness and preparedness.
